C++/CLI Enums in C# Callback Threads

Problem:
I have a C++/CLI class with a callback method that is instantiated on a thread. An instance of the C++ class is created from a.NET C# assembly.
From within the callback of the managed C++ class I have an enums to keep track of the events that have happened for the lifetime of the program.
When I call a native DLL from C# that uses a callback from the C++ class the enums are not accessed correctly (they become a blank enumerator without anything in it, but they are also flagged as invalid).
Is it possible to set up the enums so they are always available in the callback thread?
